IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMANTO ALL MEMBERS OF WELSH FENCINGPlease read the accompanying note on ‘Selection Criteria’ with care. These guidelines are the result of discussion with both the Sports Aid Wales and the Sports Council for Wales. They provide an agreed set of markers for those considering submitting applications for grant aid. Meeting the criteria is important but does not guarantee success, given the very large number of applications from other sports. Funds are limited and the competition is fierce!Category ‘A’ relates to Sports Aid Wales and is intended to help those aged 18 and under, whilst Category ‘B’ is intended for Olympic Pathway talent and above. The entry requirements for both categories are high, though a number of Welsh fencers have been successful. Unsuccessful candidates may re-apply if they reach the required standard. The details relating to Category ‘B’ have still to be finalised with the Sports Council for Wales. Further details will be provided as soon as they are confirmed. Best wishes for the festive season and a happy New Year!
