Welsh Fencing are pleased to announce a new partnership with The Urdd (Urdd Gobaith Cymru).
Urdd Gobaith Cymru is a National Voluntary Youth Organisation with over 55,000 members between the ages of 8 – 25 yrs old. Since 1922, they have provided opportunities through the medium of Welsh for children and young people in Wales to enable them to make positive contributions to their communities. This includes a network of coaches that deliver sports coaching in schools across Wales.
Urdd have introduced Fencing into their curriculum, and a group of 11 of their coaches attended a 2-day Core Coach training course (delivered by Welsh Fencing). These coaches will then be able to provide introductory fencing courses to schools throughout Wales. We have aligned as much as we can, the broad locations of where the coaches will work with where our clubs are, so that any children that wish to engage further in fencing have a club available to them as locally as possible.
Full contact details of the Urdd coaches have been sent out to our fencing clubs to encourage their integration into the club network.
